1. Introduction

24U SimpleChart Plug-In is a FileMaker Pro plug-in. It allows you to generate different kinds of charts from your data into standard container fields. No difficult syntax to learn, just provide reference to your data and let 24U SimpleChart Plug-In generate the chart for you.

SimpleChart generates charts into calculated or regular container fields. Unstored charts can be updated automatically after editing data or changing found set, with absolutely no scripting required. Stored charts can be modified later by adding new data series or changing chart style, even without access to the original data.

Recommended configuration:

 Macintosh platform:
  Power Macintosh G4 with Mac OS 10.4 Tiger and FileMaker Pro 8 or newer
  or Intel Macintosh with Mac OS 10.4 Tiger and FileMaker Pro 8.5 or newer

 PC platform:
  Pentium PC 1 GHz with Windows 2000 or newer, and FileMaker Pro 8 or newer.
 

Minimum requirements:

 Macintosh platform:
  Power Macintosh G3 with Mac OS 10.3.9 and FileMaker Pro 7
  or Intel Macintosh with Mac OS 10.4 and FileMaker Pro 8.5

 PC Platform:
  Pentium PC 300MHz with Windows 2000, and FileMaker Pro 7
 

Server (Instant Web Publishing) version:

 FileMaker Server 9 is requiered.

3. Installation

To install 24U SimpleChart Plug-In, follow these easy steps:

On Macintosh:

  1. If you did not do this yet, download and mount the 24U SimpleChart Plug-In image.
  2. Open the 24U SimpleChart Plug-In image.
  3. Move the "SimpleChart.fmplugin" file to your FileMaker "Extensions" folder.

Server version:

  1. If you did not do this yet, download and mount the 24U SimpleChart Plug-In image.
  2. Open the 24U SimpleChart Plug-In image.
  3. Copy the "SimpleChart.fmplugin" file inside "/Library/FileMaker Server/Database Server/Extensions" folder.
  4. Copy the "SimpleChart.fmplugin" file inside "/Library/FileMaker Server/Web Publishing/publishing-engine/wpc/PlugIns" folder. "PlugIns" folder must be created manually.
  5. Configure FileMaker Server from Admin Console to load plug-in. Use Configuration -> Server plug-in settings.

On PC:

  1. If you did not do this yet, download and unzip the 24U SimpleChart Plug-In archive.
  2. Open the 24U SimpleChart Plug-In folder.
  3. Move the "SimpleChart.fmx" file to your FileMaker "Extensions" folder.

Server version:

  1. If you did not do this yet, download and unzip the 24U SimpleChart Plug-In archive.
  2. Open the 24U SimpleChart Plug-In directory.
  3. Copy the "SimpleChart.fmx" file inside "C:\Program Files\FileMaker\FileMaker Server 9\Database Server\Extesions" directory.
  4. Copy the "SimpleChart.fmx" file inside "C:\Program Files\FileMaker\FileMaker Server 9\Web Publishing\publishing-engine\wpc\Extensions" directory.
  5. Configure FileMaker Server from Admin Console to load plug-in. Use Configuration -> Server plug-in settings.

 

4. Quick Start

24U SimpleChart Plug-In is designed to be very easy to use. To learn how to use 24U SimpleChart Plug-In, open the file "SimpleChartTutorial.fp7" inside the "Documentation" folder and go through the steps provided. To learn complete function syntax of the plug-in, look into the SimpleChartSyntax.html file inside the "Documentation" folder.

All functions are also very well demonstrated in example files inside the "Examples" folder.

If you are new to FileMaker plug-ins, start by checking the UsingFMPlugIns.html file inside the "Documentation" folder. It briefly explains what plug-ins are, why they are useful, and how they are usually used. 5. Troubleshooting

Before you contact our technical support regarding problems or difficulties using 24U SimpleChart Plug-In, please check if your issue is not listed below:

The plug-in functions return an "?" as a result
The 24U SimpleChart Plug-In is probably not installed or deactivated in your application preferences. Open the Application Preferences from the Edit menu, click on the "Plug-Ins" tab, and make sure that 24U SimpleChart Plug-In is there and that it is enabled.

I get a "Powered by 24U Software" splash displayed when quitting FileMaker Pro
Developer licenses and some special promotional licenses cause a splash dialog to appear on the screen for 2 seconds at the quit time of your solution. The splash helps you to comply with our License Agreement without having to design your own about screen. If you don't want your solution to show the splash dialog, send us samples of your about screen and license agreement to registration@24uSoftware.com. We will send you instructions for disabling the splash as soon as your solution is proven to comply with the developer license's sublicensing conditions.

6. Shareware Notice

Please note that 24U SimpleChart Plug-In is SHAREWARE. That means it is not free and you have to pay a license fee if you want to keep it. You can install 24U SimpleChart Plug-In and try it out for the period of 14 days. After this period, 24U SimpleChart Plug-In can stop working and require a registration code. You will get your registration code after you pay for your license.

You can freely distribute 24U SimpleChart Plug-In as long as you distribute the original compacted archive untouched and you don't charge money for the distribution. If you want to distribute 24U SimpleChart Plug-In on a physical medium, such as CD-ROM, or if you want to distribute it in other form than the original compacted archive, you must ask for our permission. If you are a solution developer you can also bundle 24U SimpleChart Plug-In with your products and sublicense it to your customers, provided you have purchased a developer license.
