Before you install Intel Packet Protect on your system, make sure the system meets the following requirements. Intel Packet Protect systems can be servers or workstations.
Before installing Intel Packet Protect, make sure your systems meet these requirements:
Windows* 98, Windows ME, or Windows NT* 4.0 with Service Pack (SP) 5 or 6a or later
40 MB available hard disk space
32 MB RAM minimum, 64MB RAM recommended
233 MHz Pentium® processor (performance level or better)
Intel network adapter (e.g., PRO/100 family of network adapters)
If you are installing on a system running Windows 98 or Windows ME, you will also need DCOM98. This can be downloaded at http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom98/download.asp.
If you are using certificates, you will also need the file KMPAPI32.DLL. See the troubleshooting section for instructions on how to install this file.

Your system must also meet these conditions:
There is not a prior version of Intel Packet Protect on your computer. If there is, follow the instructions for upgrading Intel Packet Protect.
The version of the Intel network driver on your computer matches the one on the CD containing Intel Packet Protect. If this is not the case, see "Installing Network Drivers" in the main user guide.
You have enabled IPSec from the Intel PROSet II control panel utility.
All installations are subject to the end user's acceptance of the applicable Intel Software License Agreement.
You will need the information detailed in the following table during Intel Packet Protect installation at each computer. To complete the installation most efficiently, gather the information listed in the table before you begin.
